The Silver Coconut has been a long time coming!

Let me start by thanking you from the bottom of my heart for being here and supporting my small business - it literally means the world to me!

I initially wanted to create a collection of items I love, but quickly realised this was a sure fire way to instant overwhelm! So I've stripped it right back, started over and will be focused for now on glitter - it's sparkly, colourful and makes an instant difference - all the things I love!

I'm super proud to be stocking biodegradable glitter. This one small change can make such a huge impact to our planet. Just thinking about the thousands of pots of nasty plastic glitter at festival campsites makes me determined to spread the word on our eco-friendly alternative!

I have so many ideas in the pipeline - I need to nurture my creative side and I can't wait to share everything with you in the future! I'm hoping to carve out a little space full of the things I love - sparkles, colour, raves, festivals, gems, hair, candles and of course, cats!

From humble beginnings

In the early noughties, I was living on a tight budget whilst attending a Beauty Therapy course at Loughborough College. Like so many others, I sold my unwanted items on eBay as a way to make ends meet. After some time, I decided to see if I could purchase something to resell, so I bought a small bundle of high end skincare products for £15. I resold the items individually, making myself £10 profit in the process. I repeated this process a few times until I had saved enough money to buy some wholesale cosmetics.

The Beauty Takeaway

This grew into my first online business, named after my mobile beauty business that I had run for a short time. I really struggled with this - I suppose looking back, it was a touch of imposter syndrome.
I didn't feel good enough to be performing the services I was doing, it made me anxious and I struggled to stay passionate about the industry. I was still selling online and really enjoyed it and it was making me a small but steady side income, so I decided to wind up the beauty business and put more effort into online selling.

As the name suggest, I sold beauty products, with nail glitter being the star of the show. I absolutely adore glitter! It's stunning to look at and makes an instant difference - a pot of glitter can change your look from work to festival ready in a flash!

The Silver Coconut

The name was something I thought of a couple of years ago - I was playing a game on my phone and my usual username was taken. I was sitting next to my cats so used their names to create my username 'SilverCoconut'. I thought this was a super cute name for a fun brand so it was a no-brainer when I came to launch my small business!

I decided to rename as I wanted to branch out from beauty products. Glitter was an obvious choice - festivals and raves have been a huge part of my life for many years now. It's more than just 'a good time'. It's a true escape from the everyday. A place to feel safe and loved, where everyone can be their true authentic selves with no judgment. It really is 'Positive Vibes Only'!
Glitter just makes it even better!

I love seeing everyone's outfits and make-up and the compliments and love thrown around at events are just pure joy - if I could bottle and sell the euphoria of an event I'd be an millionaire!
Instead I'll settle for spreading a little glittery joy!

    Coconut is a seal tabby colourpoint Ragdoll and talks a LOT. It makes sense she is head of communications.
    She is particularly demanding when it comes to food.
    Along with Silver, she offers emotional support by way of floofy smushes.

    Sam is my amazingly supportive better half. He's either bringing me coffee, providing background tunes on his guitar or taking packages to the post office.
    He's the all-rounder every boss babe needs by her side!
